27 Jul Long time TNCPE Supporter Recognized for Achievements
Dr. Donald Fischer – or Donn to friends and colleagues – was recently recognized in the Daily Memphian for his numerous Baldrige-based career achievements.
Donn began his quality and Baldrige-based career as a judge in the early days of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, which began in the late 1980’s. This experience led Donn to create the Mid-South Quality/Productivity Center (MSQPC), a shared venture with the Greater Memphis Chamber and Southwest Tennessee Community College.
Over the course of his career, Donn has published 18 books that outline how the Baldrige Excellence Framework principles apply to various sectors.
In the article, Heather Schoch, TNCPE President and CEO is quoted saying,
“He is very motivated by the ideal, making things better. If you know what the ideal is, every step will take you closer. One of the things I find interesting about Donn is he is the only person I know that has written so many books on applying these Baldrige principles for so many types of industries. It’s fascinating how he takes this idea and uses it as a starting place to go into so many different directions. What he is demonstrating for the rest of us is the principles work anywhere. If you think about it, there are not a lot of business principles you could think about working in education, healthcare, in a nonprofit and a third-world country.”
Donn has been an active participant in the TNCPE program as a long-time member, judge, member of the TNCPE Board of Directors, and 2018 McWherter Leadership Award recipient.
TNCPE congratulates Donn on his new role as the lead of the Greater Memphis Chamber Quality Productivity Program!
